Wolfpack: Thank you for taking time to talk to us. Please tell us about yourself. Who is MINA EVANS? 

 

Mina: Mina Evans Anfom. Creative Director and CEO of Mina Evans; a luxury fashion brand based in Accra, Ghana. 23 years old holds a BA in Fashion Design, Technology and Merchandising.

 

Wolfpack: Did you have any role models when you were younger and do you have any now? 

 

Mina: I didn’t really have any role models growing up, but right now I admire Victoria Beckham. Im also a huge Beyonce fan. Style wise, Marchesa and Elie Saab

 

Wolfpack: What experiences have shaped your life and what traits or values drive your personality? 

 

Mina: Building this brand. I have different priorities and responsibilities now. I am a very determined person; when I set a goal for myself I make it a point to achieve it. I also try not to take things too seriously; laughter makes things better.

 

Wolfpack: What are some of the challenges you face on daily basis? 

 

Mina: Accra Traffic, trying to shake the ‘seamstress’ label, sourcing fabrics and labour

 

Wolfpack: What will you say are your motivators? 

 

Mina: The big picture. Thinking about the feeling you get when you achieve what you set out to do and when it has had the desired impact on people.

 

Wolfpack: What makes you unique as an individual?

 

Mina: I think the fact that I try not to take myself too seriously. I like to laugh

 

Wolfpack: Can you please tell us about some of your personal achievements and future aspirations?

 

Mina: It was a pretty big deal for us to get featured on Studio 53 last year. We also dressed 2face Idibia and Becca recently. We had a very well attended fashion show in London earlier this year as well. For next year we hope to make our men’s shirts a ready to wear line, hope to break into Nigeria and keep growing our fan base

 

Wolfpack: What sacrifices have you had to make to be a successful entrepreneur? 


Mina: A lot of the time, I have to miss out on a good time with family and friends because there is work to do.


Wolfpack: Where do you see yourself and your business in 10 years?


Mina: A powerhouse. We hope to be one of the biggest fashion Brands in Africa with retail outlets in key African cities to start with. We also hope to have a few diffusion lines out by then.


Wolfpack: What three pieces of advice would you give to an entrepreneur starting out today?


Mina: Learn how to screen advice because everyone has an opinion.  Create the right buzz about your brand.  Always look at the big picture.
