Ramzi

Ramzi

Thank you for taking time to talk to us. Please tell us about yourself. Who is ………….?

I am Ramzi Yamusah, 21, fully Ghanaian. Born in Ghana, raised in Düsseldorf, Germany. I am a biology major and business minor at the Northeastern University.

Did you have any role models when you were younger and do you have any now?

Growing up my role models were my parents, people have celebrities or people in high places as role models but I had my parents, they were always there for me, knew me the best and I kept the values they instilled in me very close. Those values have made me who I am today. I don’t have a particular role model now, but I have very inspiring people I surround myself with, feeding on their strengths and also their weaknesses so I turn those weaknesses into my strengths. I do have my shortcomings too, but that makes me human.

What experiences have shaped your life?

Living in a different country and going to international schools to experience how diverse our world is definitely shaped me as a person today. The death of one of my close friends too gave me a strong wake up call and motivated me even more to be part of the difference.

What traits or values drive your personality?

Faith; we all have to believe in something, only the ignorant don’t, I might not be a fully fleshed Christian but I Know that there is a God and I am a God fearing person.

Hardwork; because no one makes it anywhere without it.

Prioritizing; I know what to do and when to do it, ofcourse im not perfect, there are times I waste time but then I always make up for it one way or another.

Family; keeping my family close has always meant the most to me and some friends I consider as family too. They motivate me, are there for me, they are the people that help shape me.

Resilience; I fail to give up, which has made me who I am , I get some bad grades sometimes but make sure I get the best grade the next time.

Photography; it makes me see things for a very different angle and angle that is unique to every being.

What are some of the challenges you face on daily basis?

The only challenge I face is not being challenged.

What will you say are your motivators?

My main motivator is to give back to my parents because they have done so much for me, I cant even do half of what they have done. But after that is to give back to my people, we are suffering from an epidemic, brain drain. People leave their country and go outside and serve someone else and complain that our country is backward, why don’t they come back home and help move it forward? Wanting to be a part of the change is my next main motivator.

What makes you unique as an individual?

I am Ramzi Yamusah, God has made me as me and I have accepted it therefore I am unique. Yes, He is that powerful.

Can you please tell us about some of your personal achievements and future aspirations?

I have attained several educational milestones( distinctions, IB diploma, the list goes on) , sports awards and several others. But my real achievement is making use of my talents.
In the future I don’t seek to be dressed with a bunch of if’s, but’s, what if’s but rather Yes, he did it. I don’t seek fame, pleasure, material things but I just want to be part of a tree, not everyone can grow to become a branch on a tree, some people grow and fall of like leaves but I want to be a firm root to hold the tree for our kids tomorrow to help grow the tree which will lead our people where they deserve to be with hard work.

What sacrifices have you had to make to be a successful entrepreneur?

I’ve sacrificed the deeds that bring in instant gratification and rather focused my time on the future. Scarified my ‘free time’, money, sweat, personal pleasure and a laundry list of things just to be a part of the change.

Where do you see yourself and your business in 10 years?

Truthfully only God knows where I will be, but I hope and pray to see myself as a man people will respect not for my material things but for my hardwork.

I see my business being where my handwork has taken it which is limitless.

What three pieces of advice would you give to an entrepreneur starting out today?

1. Stay focused
2. Work hard
3. YOLO (but remember to reap only the seeds you have sown not anyone else’s’ )
